Extending our Commitment to the Environment with DNV GL

Underlining our Environmental Leadership with Expanded Qualification of our Emissions Monitoring and Reporting Tool

In addition to our existing certified monitoring and reporting capability for the Polarcus fleet exhaust and Green House Gas emissions, we are now DNV GL qualified to report on our support vessel emissions and radiated sound emissions from our vessels.

A weeklong verification process involving experts from DNV GL and Polarcus was recently completed where our procedures, methodology, data and calculations, software architecture, and technical documentation related to our emissions monitoring and reporting were audited and reviewed. We have received a qualification statement from DNV GL which includes:

  • CO2 emissions calculations
  • SOx emissions calculations
  • NOx emissions calculations (pre and post mitigation)
  • Urea consumption
  • Support vessel emission data and calculations
  • EEOI (CO2 emissions per unit work)
  • Fuel specifications and consumption
  • Power production and consumption
  • Seascape noise calculation (without seismic sources)
  • Calculations for modeled, live and actual emissions profiles

Commenting on the accreditation, Drew St. Peter, Polarcus Regional Operations Manager, said: “Through our emissions monitoring and reporting tool in conjunction with the highest DNV GL Triple-E™ rated fleet, we are uniquely positioned to better understand our global emissions footprint and actually do something about it. Understanding emissions is key to implementing mitigations for them.”
