Commenting on the event, Rolf Ronningen, CEO Polarcus, said: "It is just 20 weeks since we signed the shipbuilding contract for the first of Polarcus' 12-streamer 3D seismic vessels. It is gratifying to see the excellent progress that has been made over the intervening period. I believe this is a clear reflection of the excellent teamwork and cooperation of all parties involved.
"The 89m long vessel will be the first of four ultra-modern 12-streamer 3D vessels being built by Polarcus at Drydocks World – Dubai over the next two years. The vessel will be delivered in Q3 2009 and is expected to be operational shortly thereafter. The company is also building in the same period two multipurpose 3D/2D/source vessels capable of towing up to 6 streamers.
